SARC Privacy Policy
1. Core principle
SARC is designed as a local, offline-first application. Your maps, waypoints, tracks, collections, search history and settings are stored only on your device. We do not create accounts, do not use a cloud, and do not share your data with third parties, except as explicitly described below.
2. Data processed
2.1. Location. The app uses location data (including in the background) to show your position on the map and to record GPS tracks during recording — including when the app is minimized and the screen is locked. Coordinates are stored locally as part of your tracks and waypoints and are not sent to our servers.
2.2. Camera. Camera access is used solely to scan QR codes for direct device-to-device data transfer. Camera images are neither stored nor transmitted.
2.3. Files. During import/export the app reads and writes files (maps, tracks, waypoints) that you select yourself. Processing happens locally.
2.4. Crash diagnostics. To fix bugs, the app uses Sentry: on a crash it sends technical data (device model, OS and app version, error stack trace). These reports do not contain your coordinates, tracks, waypoints or any personal information. See Sentry's policy: sentry.io/privacy.
3. Third-party processing when using online features
Some features require external services. When you use them, your request (including your IP address) is processed by the relevant provider:
- Online maps (tiles). When you select an online map source, tile requests go to the map provider's servers, which learn your IP address and the coordinates of the map areas you request.
- Place search. Search uses the Nominatim (OpenStreetMap) geocoder; your search query is sent to its servers. OSMF policy: wiki.osmfoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy.
These calls happen only when you use the corresponding online feature. In offline mode (downloaded/imported maps) no such transfer occurs.
Direct device-to-device transfer happens over a local Wi-Fi network directly between devices and does not pass through our or any third-party servers.
4. Storage and deletion
Data is stored locally until you delete it. You can delete all app data at any time via Settings → "Delete all data" or by uninstalling the app. Crash reports are retained by Sentry per their retention policy.
5. Children
The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect children's data.
6. Your rights
Because data is stored locally and not tied to an account, you fully control it and can delete it at any time. For questions related to crash diagnostics, contact us at the address below.
7. Changes
We may update this policy. The current version is always available at https://sarc.tech/en/privacy/. Material changes will be reflected by the effective date.
